Mama has to get her proposal done

Georgia was awake and alert yesterday morning. Unfortunately mama had a proposal deadline for work. I tried out the magic sleep swing...

Sibyl and 12 taco shells

My good friend Sibyl was nice enough to bring me lunch on Monday. It was her first time meeting Georgia. She brought my favorite, tacos from On the Border. Unfortunately they gave her 12 taco shells and no filling. Sibyl shared her salad with me and then was a trooper and went back for her taco filling. Brendan and I had tacos for two glorious night afterwards. Thanks Sibyl!

Rookie Bath

Brendan and I gave Georgia her first home bath this afternoon. She was starting to look pretty greasy as her only other bath was the day she was born.

We set up her super fancy spa tub (thanks Grandpa Kirk), Burts Bees Baby Bee soap, shampoo, and lotion and went to town. Since we were a little nervous, we didn't get a chance to use the special spa shower and bubbler. Definitely next time.

After the bath, we wrapped her in her pink whale towel. Overall she seemed to like the bath and only got cranky when we took her out. She let out a little scream. Kind of like a dying cat.

Now she smells fresh and clean. Also, her hair is fuzzy and seems lighter. Less black and more dark brown. Also, her eyes are turning into a lighter gray/blue. It is amazing how she changes every day.

Amy and Bill come bearing gifts

We had dinner last night with our friends Amy (holding Georgia) and Bill. Amy and I work together at Aptima. She was kind enough to come bearing a thoughtful gift from my colleagues at Aptima, a very generous gift certificate to DineWise. DineWise is a company that brings chef prepared restaurant quality meals to your door. The meals look absolutely fabulous. This is a much needed gift as we have been eating cereal most nights! We also received a beautiful bouquet and balloon earlier in the day. Thanks to all my friends at Aptima. You guys are too much! We can't wait to bring Georgia to Aptima for a visit. The Dr. said to wait until early February to take her out in public, once she has passed her original due date of January 31.

Georgia was in rare form last night. She was up for almost four hours and ate 4 separate times during that period. I think she is going to definitely gain some weight before her one month appointment. Amy was a natural at giving her the bottle!

A Drago visit

My good friend Amy and her husband Paul live about a mile east of us. Amy and I were college roommates at Ohio Wesleyan and both lived in D.C. for several years. Amy moved up here from DC around 2003 and we followed in 2005. Amy has been a big part of my life since 1998. Her daughter Emma Grace Drago (Pink striped outfit) was born on December 13th of this year, 10 days before Georgia. Emma was kind enough to test Georgia's new swing from Grandma Gaye and Grandpa Kirk. Out like a light. Exactly the effect we were going for...

These girls are going to have a lot of fun together!

New Years Eve

We spent New Years Eve with our friends Beren, Shawn, and their son Paul. They live about a mile south of us. We ate cheese, drank wine, and sadly couldn't stay up late enough to welcome 2008. It was a good time for all though!

Paul is about 2 months older and 9 lbs heavier than Georgia. Shawn snapped a pic of the two of them. BFFs for sure!

Who is that in bed with me?

Two pair and a spare

We received 5 socks in the mail. Note that is 5 socks and not 5 separate pairs of socks. A gift from Grandma Gaye and Grandpa Kirk. Mix and match homemade socks from Vermont. Super cute from the sock lady.

Mellow baby

We haven't really heard Georgia cry, except for when she was born and when they drew blood at the Dr. office. This video depicts what she is like most of her waking time. We are enjoying while we can, knowing that the pregnancy gods are fair...

Lazy morning

Brendan and I are having a lot of fun figuring this lack of sleep parenting gig out. The other morning I came upstairs to find my gorgeous husband, fabulous dog, and super fantastic daughter all cuddled up together. How did I get so lucky?

Mountains of nipples

The hospital sent us home with two large bags of gear. Including thermometers, bottles, shampoo, combs, calorie supplement for our skinny baby, etc. Note the enormous mountain of nipples. Thank you nurses at Brigham and Womens NICU!
