Quinn 9 days old

Quinn was wide awake yesterday so we took a few pics.
He looks a lot less swollen (as does Mama).
Thanks for the outfit Auntie Sharon!

Happy Easter!

Paul, Amy, Jack and Emma invited us over for Easter Sunday. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time.

Festivities started out with an Easter egg hunt. We hadn't yet taught Georgia the basics of egg hunting but she caught on quickly and carried her basket around for the next few hours.

Egg hunting is fabulous!

I see one!

Oops, I dropped these. Have to pick them up!
Can't lose my loot!

What's in your egg Emma?
I have fun stickers!

I see more over there!
But boy is my basket getting heavy.

Let me just tuck this one away...

This is so much fun Mama!

Hey now girlfriend.
You leave my eggs alone.

Let's check out our egg booty.

Yummy, chocolate kisses in that one.

The girls then helped decorate Easter eggs.
Georgia liked using the crayons.

Then it was time for T-ball. Paul helped teach G how to bat.

Daddy is modeling a gift for Quinn.

The girls enjoyed some cupcakes after lunch.
Georgia kept saying "Delicious!"

Let me just get this little bit of frosting...

Then they rocked it out in the Barbie Jeep.
Girls will be girls.

"Hey Em, let's turn on some sweet tunes. Do you have that new Dora CD?"

Cruising with her girlfriend.
Will this be G in 14 years? Yikes!

G holding Quinn

Georgia asked to hold Quinn for the first time Saturday morning. She was very gentle with him and sat very still. She has asked to hold him several times since. She thinks he is really soft and wiggly.

The Boys

.

Our wonderful friends John and Greg, aka "The Boys" came over with homemade raviolis, Grandma's sauce, meatballs, cupcakes, homemade chicken pot pies and more. They totally spoiled us with enough food for two weeks. They also loved meeting Quinn for the first time.

Hospitals are like resorts (sort of)

Quinn was pretty jaundice after we got home from the hospital. So they sent us back for an overnight stay under the lights Thursday evening. He liked how warm it was in the little box. Later we played until they let us go home. Luckily they let Mama stay in the room with him overnight. They even fed her since she was feeding the patient.

Quinn getting a suntan.

Did we mention he came out smiling?

Just playing around with Mama.

Mighty Quinn

With Quinn's recent arrival, it fell upon our shoulders to select the appropriate blogging nick name for our little guy.

Grandpa Bob recently reminded us of the song "Mighty Quinn" a folk-rock song written by Bob Dylan and covered by a ton of amazing artists including Manfred Mann, Black Crowes, Grateful Dead, and Phish . I myself love the song but never really knew what it was about. According to Wikipedia, the subject of the song is the arrival of the mighty Quinn, who changes despair into joy and chaos into rest. Some suggest that Quinn is a village elder. This is very fitting as the Irish/Gaelic meaning for Quinn is "counsel." We thought that "Mighty Quinn" serves as a great blogging nickname for our new addition.

G and Q

Georgia loved meeting her baby brother for the first time. We have it on video and she kept saying, "I like it." She also noted that he was tired, wrapped in a blanket, and she slightly obsessed over the bandaids on his feet. Here are some pics from this morning. She now says "I like him" and we are practicing kisses rather than pokes.

First pics of G and Q.

Kisses by G.

Gentle pats.

Taking Quinn Home

We took Quinn home on March 30th. It seemed like every pregnant woman with a new baby was trying to get out of the city before rush hour. There was a congregation of us having a party downstairs while waiting for our cars. I'm surprised they had anymore wheelchairs left there were so many of us! I guess that's how pregnant ladies roll when the moon is full.

What a rainy day!
6 inches over Mon and Tues!

Quinn was not so sure about the hat
that went with his outfit....

We took a similar pic with G.
Quinn had a little more meat on him
when leaving the hospital of course.

Grandma was waiting to hold him when we got home sweet home.

Morning conversation

As usual Georgia came pattering into our room around 6:00 this morning. As she lay cuddled up with me she started playing with my sleep tousled hair.
G: "Mama, I like your hair."
K: "Thanks babe, I like you hair too."
G: Touches my nose. "Mama, I like your big nose"
K: "Thanks sweetie"
G: Pokes my eye. "Mama's eyes are brown"
K: "That's right babe, what color are your eyes?"
G: "Blue"
K: "That's right, what color are Daddy's eyes"
G: "I don't know"
K: "Hazel. Daddy's eyes are hazel."
G. "That's so silly!"
